Movie Review: Cyrus

What an uncomfortable movie. It was funny, sad and a bit too real.

In summary, divorced guy finds out his ex is getting remarried. He is forced to go to a party and miraculously a hot woman is attracted to him. He safely lands the shuttle and immediately falls in love. The twist comes when the woman has a son, not a little kid a 21 year old man. Needless to say the son and the mother/new girlfriend have a close relationship and weirdness and hilarity ensue. The movie is the typical-man finds woman who has a kid-man and kid fight for dominance.

How many children from single parents home try to break up a budding romance. I would think 99%. There are too many movie where the intruding party tries to connect with the kids and wins them over or saves their lives. How bogus can you get Hollywood? Cyrus delivers the reality of trying to have a happy love life when family realities and problems pop-up.

I saw the movie in our independent theater and I was out numbered by senior citizens. The seniors seemed to love it, laughing at the jokes and the cruelty with the same fervor and robustness.

This is not a summer movie or a date movie. This is a you need to kick a puppy kind of movie.
