It seems like i have many rules but in reality it is basically just one rule, be a gentleman.
It is a way to make sure everyone enjoys themselves and doesn't feel left out.
So, I was just reading Esquire on a gentleman and dining and it says a gentleman always orders coffee after dessert. For 25 years of eating out I have been doing this wrong. I'll admit I am a bit disappointed and angry with myself. I should have figured this out.
From now on I will have coffee at the end of the meal. It doesnt explain why coffee at the end of the meal and I refuse to google it. I'll make an assumption that dessert wines are more appropriate with the sweet goodness of the last course. So we have coffee at the end of a meal as a digestive I guess.
Anyway, If I catch any of you making this same mistake I will be quick to point it out.
