When did doing yard work become so cathartic?
Today I raked leaves. They were wet and messy and it was cold out but it felt good. It was accomplishment. It was more nice to be out dong real work.
When i was younger and my mom asked me to rake. I'd take my tractor out and put the blade on mulch and just destroy the leaves. I didnt avoid my chores i just hated them and now i want to do them.
I like dishes, and laundry, and wiping things down.
Whats next moving to Florida and living off of social security???

Chores only become cathartic only because normal work is a grind. Something other than our regular jobs always ends up being better. It's also the physicality of it all. Rake. Rake. Rake. Mindnumbing after awhile but fine after a long hard day at work.
